Potable and Raw Water Transfer Mains, Proserpine and Cannon Valley

⁠⁠⁠The Scope of Works for this Project covers the requirements for the installation, commissioning, and testing of 11.87km of new trunk potable water mains, 2.49km of raw water main and 8.87 km of dual communications conduits.

This project is intended to improve the connectivity and flexibility of the potable water supply system which services Proserpine, Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and surrounding communities.

The potable water network is supplied by two water treatments plants (WTP), the Proserpine WTP, located on Crystalbrook Rd, Proserpine and the Coastal WTP, located on Shute Harbour Rd, Mount Marlow. These two water treatment plants are linked by a DN 225 asbestos cement (AC) pipeline, which allows for the transfer of some potable water from a pump station located in Proserpine to the treated water tank at the Coastal WTP. This water can then be pumped on to consumers. The capacity of this pipeline and transfer pumping system is limited. The Proserpine WTP is capable of supplying a significant component of the current and projected future demand for consumers downstream of the Coastal WTP, however the current system configuration does not provide capacity for this water to be transferred.

The Project will significantly increase the capacity for potable water to be transferred from Proserpine to Coastal consumers and will allow water to be pumped directly from Proserpine to the Cannonvale reticulation system without the need for re-pumping at the Coastal WTP.

As part of the entire concept to provide water infrastructure to the townships Council is constructing a new reservoir in the Cannon Valley Area. As part of the scope for this project the Contractor will install approximately 2km of inlet and outlet mains connecting the reservoir to the network.
