Tender Description

The City of Cockburn (the Principal) is requires the services of a suitably qualified, experienced WA Licensed Electrical Contractor to undertake the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of Sports (AFL) Floodlighting at Atwell Reserve, Treeby, Western Australia.

Atwell Reserve is located at 39 Brenchley Drive, Atwell, on Lot 669 with an area of approximately 6.6 hectares. The reserve is currently used in the winter season by the Jandakot Jets Junior and Senior Football Clubs (AFL), and in the summer both the Jandakot Lakes Junior Cricket and Jandakot Senior Cricket Clubs.

The sports floodlighting at Atwell Reserve was recently upgraded in 2017 which involved the replacement of two floodlight towers on the west oval (Oval 1), and relocation of the old ones over to the eastern side of the reserve to provide low level training lighting on Oval 2 (east oval).

The City recently commissioned a Sporting Facilities Lighting Audit which identified that the lighting to Oval 1 on the western side of the reserve was not compliant with relevant Australian Standards for large ball sports club competition (AS 2560.2.3 – Lighting for football – all codes), primarily relating to lighting level (lux), uniformity and glare requirements due to the current pole location and heights.

In line with audit report recommendations, the City appointed an electrical engineer consultant to develop a detailed sports floodlighting redesign and cost estimate for Oval 1, proposing to replace the two older poles on the western side of the oval, and upgrading to LED lighting to meet AS 2560.2.3 for training and competition (100 lux).

It is the Principal’s expectation that the Contract shall be awarded in December 2019 and work shall commence immediately upon receipt of contract; with an estimated total supply/manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning period of stwelve (12) weeks.

The Contractor will be required to provide all labour, plant, tools and equipment, materials, fees and charges, chemicals, transport/cartage etc. and anything else necessary for the completion of the proposed Contract.

Concept design drawings have been prepared and a full statement of the design services and construction works required under the proposed Contract appears in the Specification and Special Conditions of Contract.
