Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠We are seeking registrations of interest from suitably qualified and experienced companies capable of providing the following requirements:

Content requirements

  • High resolution weather observations and forecasts
  • Meteorological scripts and briefings
  • Short-term inclement weather warnings
  • Long- and medium-term inclement weather warnings
  • Long- and medium-term weather outlooks

Provision of content requirements

  • Web authenticated interface
  • Data through FTP and Web Service (CSV/XML)
  • Geospatial data (WFS.WMS or similar)
  • Telephone and email
  • Smart phone applications

Observation & forecast data attribute requirements

  • Locations: A minimum of 20 locations spanning the South West Interconnected Network license area (including the Perth Greater Metropolitan Area, Lancelin, Kalbarri, Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Albany, Bunbury, Mandurah).
  • Forecast parameters: Temperature, dew point, humidity, mean wind speed, solar irradiance, wind speed, wind direction, pressure, cloud, rainfall probability, rainfall rate, ‘feels like’ temperature and heat index.
  • Forecast time range of 14 days
  • Forecast probability of exceedance levels (minimum of 10%, 50%, 90%)
  • Time resolution/interval: 30-minute intervals throughout the forecast time range across all forecast parameters.
  • Update frequency: 10 minutes

Other requirements

  • Daily meteorological scripts and briefings for a minimum of 20 locations spanning the South West Interconnected Network license area (including the Perth Greater Metropolitan Area, Lancelin, Kalbarri, Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Albany, Bunbury, Mandurah).
  • Seven-day severe weather outlooks, updated daily, 365 days per year.
  • Short-term inclement weather warnings
  • Direct telephone meteorological support and briefings from 4:30 AM WST to 9:00 PM WST, 365 days per year.
  • Service outage and degradation incident response support 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
