EII Stockyard Containment Wall Replacement Project-Pipe Supply & Construction
Tender ID: 401220
Tender Details
Tender Description
Background
EII stockyard consists of seven conveyors numbered 7E, 8E, 9E, 10E, 11E, 12E with each conveyor bound by stockpiles. A containment wall of approximately 1,100 mm height is located on the far side of each stockpile to prevent material from the stockpile spilling onto the maintenance access roadways and reclaimer/stacker rails. these walls will be replaced as part of this project. Each existing stockpile wall is approximately 267 m long and will be replaced in a staged manner, with nominally one or two complete lengths being replaced concurrently. The adjacent stockpile will need to be depleted and isolated prior to each wall replacement for safety and access.
Scope of Work
This Scope of Works (SOW) covers site works associated with replacement of the stockyard walls and associated stockpile dust suppression system. The scope broadly includes demolition of existing infrastructure (walls, above ground steel piping, and electrical controls) followed by installation of new walls formed from precast concrete modules (free issued) and placement of the dust suppression piping, water cannons and associated piping, and electrical instrumentation items.
Piping supply is included in this SOW. Replacement piping will primarily be HDPE, with stainless steel piping sections in the vicinity of the water cannon off-takes. Currently, each stockpile is fitted with water cannons for dust suppression at 50 m intervals. The system consists of galvanised steel piping which is currently either fixed to, or located immediately behind, the retaining walls. Control cabling for the water cannon solenoids is installed in a cable tray fixed to the top of the existing walls.
The replacement dust suppression piping will be installed in front of (that is, on the roadway side of) the precast retaining wall modules in a recess designed for this purpose, and an HDPE pipe specification will be used. Similarly, the electrical control cables will be run in galvanised steel conduits fixed to the face of the new walls. At
water cannon take-offs, the HDPE pipe will transition to a stainless steel piping specification.
