Tender Description

Warrnambool City Council on behalf of the Great South Coast Integrated Water Management (IWM) Forum is seeking quotations for developing an Urban Drainage Community of Practice. The aim of this project is to build regional capacity in integrated water management (IWM) within the areas of councils managing stormwater which will ultimately result in best practice.

The Great South IWM Forum have identified the importance of developing a Community of Practice for urban drainage. Councils in the Great South Coast region are under-resourced and face a range of pressing issues relating to urban drainage, however have limited capacity to undertake integrated drainage planning. This project will directly contribute to the capacity building approach outlined in Victoria's IWM Guidelines. This project will enable an IWM approach to be taken where a business as usual approach would miss the opportunity to integrate planning of stormwater drainage.

While the Great South Coast IWM Forum comprises the most senior executives of the member organisations, there is an IWM Practitioner Network that operates in parallel to the Forum, consisting of coordinators and managers from across the planning, infrastructure, waterway, sustainability and recreation teams of the member organisations. This network operates as an informal community of practice and the purpose of this project is to work with the infrastructure people from this network to build a more formal and focused community of practice that leverages common challenges relating to drainage management that are faced by the group and identify opportunities to address the challenges with an emphasis on IWM.
