Expression of Interest - GPS Base Station Network

⁠⁠⁠The Carmichael Rail Project is a 205km “Greenfield”, heavy-haul, narrow gauge, single-line, railway. During the construction phase of the project, a series of survey base stations will be established along the rail corridor to provide a “back-bone” survey control system. This will provide the base station accuracy needed for machine control and site survey.

The Carmichael Rail Network (CRN) are seeking a supplier to establish and maintain the survey base station equipment which include, but is not limited to: 10 x Base Stations and 20 Radio Repeaters, inclusive of all the aspects required to make it fully operational for 18 months minimum.

The Base Station equipment will be trailer mounted and will consist of a GPS Radio Repeater, extended antenna to reach the maximum allowable distance until the next GPS Base station setup with its own radio repeater. Each radio repeater will be fully licensed according to ACMA radio frequency guidelines which falls under the Radiocommunications Act 1992.

Each GPS Base station, and its radio repeaters will have to be powered by its own batteries and adequate solar panels to recharge the batteries to its full capacity.

Each battery bank will have enough storage capacity to last 72 hours between charges, which will ensure the construction operations will be able to continue without fail.

Suppliers shall be able to supply and install the equipment within 6 weeks’ notice period, following the approval of the Commercial Agreement.

The construction phase of the project is expected to extend for approximately 18 months. Suppliers will ideally be able to provide an option for both hire and purchase of the GNSS Base system with all the radio repeaters, trailers, battery banks and installed equipment, with a ready supply of spare parts for critical components to keep it fully operational during and after the project construction phase.

It shall be noted that this is an EOI only and the detailed scope of work shall be provided during the tender phase.
