Transport Connected Bus Program – Tracking & Passenger Counting

⁠⁠⁠Provision of a vehicle tracking and passenger counting technology solution for rural and regional bus services.

As part of the Transport Connected Bus (TCB) Program, Transport for NSW ('TfNSW') is seeking proposals from suitably qualified proponents for the provision of a technology solution consisting of vehicle tracking, telematics, and passenger counting capability for vehicles operating under Rural and Regional Bus Service Contracts (RRBSC). Included will be the software, hardware, installation, configuration, maintenance, training, support, and services required to implement the solution.

The tracking and telematics component of the solution shall gather, record, and transmit information via cellular and wireless communication technologies. The passenger counting component of the solution shall be innovative in nature and support a varied and diverse RRBSC vehicle fleet.

The vehicle tracking and passenger count data will enable TfNSW to publish, via integration with existing TfNSW systems, real-time trip update information to customers via TfNSW digital customer information channels; enhance TfNSW’s ability to manage bus services for Rural and Regional NSW; and provide Operators with data to streamline their operations.
