MCG Sports Lighting Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is proposing to implement works at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) comprising the upgrade of the existing sportsground floodlighting installation, to provide a more efficient and better performing system to illuminate the whole of the ground to meet current sporting industry Standards and Guidelines, and to meet the expectations and requirements of the MCC, the various sporting clubs that use the ground, the television broadcasters, and other stakeholders.

It is also intended that the proposed floodlighting upgrade implementation works shall substantially reduce ongoing operating and maintenance costs, reduce spill light and glare to surrounding areas outside the MCG reserve, and benchmark the MCG with other modern stadium facilities that currently achieve a similar international standing.

Essentially the proposed floodlighting upgrade implementation works shall include the full replacement of all of the existing sports lighting luminaires at the MCG, which generally comprise metal halide lamped floodlighting luminaires, with LED floodlighting luminaires, and including all required enabling works, power distribution, switchboards, controls, etc.

* Respondents shall demonstrate extensive experience in designing and constructing projects of a similar nature.
* Respondents shall provide details of similar, recently completed, past projects, indicating the project’s scope, construction value, complexity, etc., and the respondent’s involvement in these projects.
* The respondent shall also list electrical infrastructure projects that they were involved with that exceed a construction value of $10 million, and were completed within the last 5 years.
