Tender ID: 367555
Tender Details
Tender Description
MFB’s more than 2,200 employees provide services to almost three million Melbourne residents, workers and visitors, and safeguard assets and infrastructure worth billions of dollars. Our services cover the metropolitan district, an area of over 1,000 square kilometres.
The MFB:
* delivers fire and emergency management services
* drives systemic change to the built environment through reforms to building design, regulations and legislation
* invests in research
* develops prevention programs that improve community safety and build resilience.
MFB also provides specialist operational support across Australia and the Asia Pacific region as required.
The majority of MFB services occur in the metropolitan district which reaches across 26 Local Government Areas (LGAs). There are 47 stations spread through five districts which are split into two main regions.
Our structural arrangements are aligned to state government regional boundaries. This enables us to work cohesively with local, municipal, regional and state partners on planning, command, control and coordination of incidents under the State Emergency Management arrangements. It is also the platform for integrated emergency management planning at the local, municipal, regional and state level.
Our regional model supports MFB’s role in the State Control Centre, with regional controllers from all agencies working together on emergencies in their areas of responsibility.
Marine:
Following a series of legislative changes enacted in the first decade of the century, the subsequent changes to the MD resulted in the MFBs statutory response activities (i.e. responding to an alarm of fire), expanded to cover not only the rivers and waterways within the Melbourne metropolitan region but also to the majority of waters within Port Philip Bay and a defined area out to three nautical miles beyond Port Philip Head, within Bass Strait. Subsequent changes resulting from the Emergency Management Act 2013 and amendments to the Emergency Management Manual Victoria (EMMV) have further refined Government expectations, resulting in the MFB being required to develop, maintain and deliver a variety of emergency response capabilities in the marine domain.
To enable the discharge of its statutory responsibilities within the marine domain, the MFB currently operates a small fleet of marine vessels capable of responding to emergencies throughout the MD.
The majority of the vessels are berthed and operated from the Pier 35, 263-329 Lorimer Street, Port Melbourne Vic 3207.
MFB is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to provide the Preventative and Corrective Maintenance for Fire Boats 1 & 2. This is to be conducted as per the service schedules set out in the specification and in callaboration with the MFB Fleet Planning Department.
MFB intends to compare and assess the responses with the aim of identifying an appropriate provider.
