Project Management of Stormwater Restoration Works

⁠⁠⁠On 10 and 11 May 2018 the City of Hobart experienced a significant rainfall event ("the storm") that resulted in widespread damage to its drainage infrastructure, along with damage to roads, parks and facilities. The storm also caused inundation of some residential and commercial properties at various locations across the City.

The maximum one hour duration event as measured at the Hobart weather station was equivalent to about 1% AEP, while the Mt Wellington gauging for the maximum one hour event was well in excess of 1% AEP. Generally the City's drainage system has been designed to accommodate a 5% AEP at the local level and to a 1% AEP for critical infrastructure. Given the intensity of the event significant damage occurred.

The initial objectives of the further assessment will be to enable the prioritisation of works and identify funding requirements.
