Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD)- Assessment Service

⁠⁠⁠The Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) assessment service provides assessments to support applications in the categories of Intellectual Disability (ID) and Severe Language Disorder with Critical Educational Needs (SLD-CEN). In 2017 over 6,500 assessments were conducted by the assessment service, resulting in approximately 3,200 PSD applications.

The service engages appropriately qualified psychologists and speech pathologists to undertake these assessments, and coordinates the delivery of these services across the state.

An essential quality assurance element of the assessment service is ensuring a high level of rigour, consistency and professionalism in the assessment of students for the PSD.  The maintenance and continued development of the assessment service’s quality assurance approach contributes significantly to managing PSD budget demand, and provides a high quality professional service to schools and families.
