The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) is the State’s strategic planning authority, responsible for land use and infrastructure planning for strategically important precincts across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. The VPA was founded in 2006 as the Growth Areas Authority (GAA), which previously completed the majority of its planning activities in Melbourne’s seven declared growth areas – the municipalities of Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Whittlesea and Wyndham. Our work has since been expanded to include planning for urban renewal in the inner and middle suburbs, as well as planning for jobs and population growth in the state’s diverse regional cities and towns.

A key responsibility of the VPA is to implement the initiatives outlined in the refreshed Plan Melbourne, the Victorian Government’s planning blueprint for Melbourne.

The VPA works closely with councils, government agencies and the community on integrated land use and infrastructure coordination for strategically important development sites.

The VPA is seeking proposals to provide internal audit services for a period of three (3) years commencing July 2018, with two optional one year extensions at the discretion of the VPA.  The internal auditor is to assess the adequacy of controls relating to areas of risk identified by the Risk and Audit Committee.  The focus of the role is expected to be on identifying and recommending improvements to VPA systems and processes.
