Tender Description
The feed provided to cattle, buffalo, sheep and goats during livestock export is a key element in ensuring their ongoing health and welfare. The Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (ASEL) set out the minimum regulatory requirements for ration volume, pellet specifications and chaff provision. Accredited stockpersons and feed suppliers / pellet manufacturers have also suggested that there would be benefits in reviewing the ASEL feed requirements and addressing any potential gaps (particularly in relation to cattle and buffalo). The Livestock Export Program (LEP) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced consultants familiar with the livestock export industry to identify opportunities for continued improvements to the on-board live export feed ration.

Proposals must be received by 5pm, Monday 18th September, 2017.
Applications will be reviewed by the Live Export Research & Development Advisory Committee, and selection of the successful proposal(s) will be based on assessment against the following criteria:
* Soundness of the method proposed to achieve the project(s) objectives
* Demonstration of the applicant’s knowledge and understanding of the relevant issues. Applicants should be aware that experience as an Australian accredited shipboard veterinarian will be highly regarded;
* Track record of the applicant and proposed team members; and
* The project budget, delivery timeline and assessed value for money.
