The Melbourne Sewerage Strategy (MSS) will consider how Melbourne’s sewerage system will develop over the coming 50 years in order to protect public health, and enhance liveability, productivity, prosperity and the environment of the metropolitan region.
The strategy has been structured as a series of work packages, with the subject of this proposal being “To identify the factors in the external environment that are likely to cause disruption or require changes to the current approach to providing sewerage services”. The aim is to highlight and identify potential ‘disruptors’ from the external environment that are likely to cause change in the way sewerage is managed and planned for in the future over the next 50 years. Disruptors are to be considered for the total sewerage system from the source through to final treatment.
