The Victorian Government is funding the $175 million Thompsons Road Upgrade to improve safety and capacity for this vital east-west corridor in Melbourne's south-east growth region.

The project will involve the duplication of Thompsons Road, with a minimum of two traffic lanes in each direction, and the removal of the level crossing at Merinda Park.

Construction crews are now starting to build the new road bridges that will remove the dangerous and congested level crossing on Thompsons Road forever.

To do this one of the first activities you will see is the construction of a new retaining wall that we will build up to allow the bridge to be built.

You will notice large earth moving equipment and trucks moving around the site. For your own safety we urge you to continue to use the pedestrian detour in place to access the Merinda Park station, and cross Thompsons Road at the signalised pedestrian crossing near Lesdon Avenue.
