Independent Members of Audit Committee

⁠⁠⁠Applications are invited for membership on Council's Audit Committee, which is an independent Advisory Committee to Council.

The primary objective of the Audit Committee is to assist Council in the effective conduct of its responsibilities for financial reporting, management of risk and maintaining a reliable system of internal controls. The Audit Committee comprises of both Councillors and independent persons. All members have full voting rights.

The Committee meets up to six times per annum. The independent members will have senior business or financial management/reporting knowledge and experience, and be conversant with financial and other reporting requirements. A background with extensive Local Government and audit exposure would be advantageous. The independent members are appointed for a varying 3 year term.

The Council appoints a Chairperson of the Committee for a 3 year term, with other members serving 1 and 2 years respectively. Intending applicants should obtain an information pack from Damian Hogan, Manager Finance, on 9243-8705 or email dhogan@mvcc.vic.gov.au
