Tender Description
The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is a Division of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. It is established under the National Measurement Act 2004 to carry out functions in physical, chemical and biological measurements. The NMI utilises scientific measurements and analytical equipment as part of its activities.
NMI use an Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS) for the analysis of forensic and sports drug samples. Existing instruments are fully committed and new projects require the use of IRMS for the characterisation of certified reference materials. Accordingly, the Department invites suitably qualified consultants/contractors to submit a tender for a Gas Chromatograph Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer.
The NMI requires an IRMS interfaced to both a gas chromatograph (GC) and an elemental analyser (EA). This instrument will be used to measure stable carbon isotope ratios of steroids or organic contaminants in complex biological matrices.
