Council's audit committee has a vacancy for an external, independent member, who will be appointed for a three- year term.

Council operates an independent audit committee as part of its governance function. The committee comprises seven members: four independent external members, and three councillors. It is a formally appointed committee of Council that meets at least five times each year.

The committee's main role is to assist council to fulfil its governance and oversight responsibilities in relation to financial reporting, internal control, risk management systems, ethical accountability and the internal and external audit functions.

Skills and attributes required include a strong financial background and/or experience in risk management and/or governance. Independent members are paid for meeting attendance and a travel allowance is paid where appropriate.
