This alliance, supported by government, is uniquely placed to develop the enormous potential of genomics to improve our health.
Information Management Systems
To realise the vision of incorporating genomics into routine healthcare, the Alliance intends to implement an information management solution that supports secure and ethical access to clinically generated genomic data.
This system will support the patient and their clinicians in the provision of care, provide accredited laboratories with a robust common platform for analysis and curation and will also provide controlled access to genomic data to support secondary uses (e.g. research).
It will be scalable and provide a foundation for the introduction of other –omics technologies into practice in the future.
Product Selection
The Alliance is at a stage where we need to identify and select software products that will be part of the future state solution.
An Expression of Interest will be issued on 9 August 2016. The Scope for this EOI is focused on discovering and assessing fit of specific products for Horizon 1:
- Genomics Repository (ability to store data)
- Analysis Platform (ability to run a computational pipeline)
- Curation Platform (ability to curate variants)
From responses to the EOI, shortlisted suppliers will be invited to participate in a Competitive Dialogue process. This process will involve a series of interactive workshops allowing the Alliance to better understand capabilities of potential suppliers (and their products) and to work together to further refine existing requirements.
In late 2016, the Alliance will ask shortlisted suppliers to respond to a full Request for Proposal. The Alliance will consider services such as project management and implementation as part of the RFP process.
