Development of Detailed Design and Construction Specifications for a Fishway on the Tea Garden Weir (Ovens River)

⁠⁠⁠The North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is seeking tenders for the development of detailed design and construction specifications for a fishway on the Tea Garden Weir (Ovens River), near Everton in North East Victoria, including all relevant approvals to enable construction of suitable fish passage at the site.

The weir is owned and operated by Goulburn Murray water for the delivery of irrigation, stock and domestic water to entitlement holders on the Tea Garden Creek system, which extends from Markwood to Oxley. Relationship management with Goulburn Murray Water and the entitlement holders will be of high importance throughout the project. A project steering committee will be established to facilitate this process, as well as providing project governance and oversight. The final fish passage design will need to accommodate the current functionality and purpose of the weir (ie delivery of farm water).

The project will deliver detailed fish passage design plans and construction specifications, which will:
* Achieve fish passage without compromising weir functionality
* Meet with Goulburn Murray Water and community needs regarding safety in design
* Be resilient to flood events (including total submersion)
* Minimise future maintenance requirements; and
* Where the final design allows, include provision for PIT-tag reader installation for monitoring fish movement through the structure.
