Dawson Street Streetscape Improvements

⁠⁠⁠Tenders are invited for Contract 492T - Dawson Street Streetscape Improvements, Brunswick

Council is seeking a suitable contractor to undertake streetscape improvements in Dawson Street, Brunswick. The area of works is located between Sydney Rod and the Upfield railway line.

The streetscape improvements works include:
* Complete footpath reconstruction including kerb extensions, new kerb and channel and paving
* Construction of rain gardens and tree pits
* Landscaping including shrub, ground cover and trees
* Road linemarking
* Services assets modifications and liaison with services authorities

Key Requirements
* The project construction is anticipated to commence in January 2017 and be completed in September 2017 to match the budget that spans over two financial 2016-17 and 2017-18. Therefore, the prices submitted with the tender submissions must be valid for construction in 2017. A preferred construction staging is as follows:
  * Stage 1: Railway line to Saxon Street - January to June 2017
  * Stage 2: Saxon Street to Sydney Road - July to September 2017
* The contractor must undertake the proposed works while maintaining pedestrian and vehicle access to all buildings abutting the street such as Brunswick Baths, Brunswick Library, St Ambrose Hall, Marists building, the Brosnan centre etc.
* The works must minimise disturbance to neighbouring residents, businesses and services providers.
* The Sydney Road Street Party (SRSP) will occur in the first or the second weekend of March 2017. The construction works must be planned and executed to have a site completely safe for the set up and the operations of the SRSP.
* All works must be undertaken in accordance with Council standards or to the satisfaction of the Council superintendent.
* Contractor's team must include the services of a qualified landscape contractor to undertake the entire scope of landscape works in the project. The qualified contractor must also undertake maintenance of the rain gardens and tree pits for 24 months as per the maintenance schedule provided.
* Contractor must liaise with the services authorities to obtain the requisite approvals and coordinate the works.
* Contractor must submit examples of relevant experience, at least three referees, the proposed project team, and proposed project schedule.
* Defects liability period: 12 months for civil works.
* Maintenance: 24 months for all landscape works.
