Tender Description

Greenwich Baths is a public recreation facility on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour which has been used as a harbourside swimming spot for almost 100 years. The Baths stand on a site which is partially Crown land and partially owned by NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).

Lane Cove Council is the lessee responsible for the care, control and maintenance of the facility.

The oldest building on the site, historically known as the "Clubhouse", was constructed in the 1930s and is in need of repair and renovation.

Council intends to engage the services of suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake the building works, in summary, comprising:
1. Restoration of the upper level including reinstatement of windows to its original configuration, installation of larger windows to resemble the original balcony configuration and repainting of all facades to the original cement grey with the original "BATHS" sign.
2. Restoration of the building's access stairs and addition of extra metal handrails and anti-slip nosing.
3. Demolition of the lower level infill and construction of new male, female and accessible public toilets and change rooms.

The Baths operate seasonally and are now closed to the public until October 2016. The successful builder must be able to commence the works immediately aiming to complete the project by the season opening in Spring 2016.
