Lionel Watts is a subregional level sportsfield that is heavily used by both schools and formal sport outside of school. Dominant sports are Football, Rugby League, AFL and cricket. Lionel watts also has 8 netball courts (two hard surface) and four cricket nets.
A condition assessment of the turf sportsfields was undertaken in 2013 identifying the fields as requiring reconstruction within 5 years for the asset to continue to deliver a high level of service. This is primarily due to the very heavy compaction of the growing media.
The successful consultant will undertake detail design including the following objectives:
Restore sportsfields to condition level 1
Upgrade active sports lighting to meet current Australian Standards
Minimise importation of soil
Improve drainage and reduce compaction
Maximise availability and usage of active sports infrastructure.
Scope inclusions:
Design, specification and Part V assessment.
Investigation of preferred configuration of active sports infrastructure.
Decompaction of sportsfields
Returfing where required with washed turf
Field drainage system, eg sand-slit drainage system
Lighting upgraded to current Australian standards
Renew existing netball courts and install two new concrete multi-purpose courts (netball/basketball)
Renew cricket nets
Landscaping
Scope exclusions:
Car park works
Irrigation system and storage tank relocation
