Highway 17 - Realignment of Newell Highway at Trewilga

Tenders are invited from contractors pre-qualified with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts at the prequalification Roadworks Class R2 and Financial Level F20, or higher, for the construction of Realignment of Newell Highway at Trewilga.

The Newell Highway extends from the Victorian border to the Queensland border and is an important link for freight movements. Heavy vehicles make up about 31 per cent of traffic along this section of the highway with the majority being 26 metre B-doubles. The volume of heavy vehicle traffic is expected to increase annually.

Extra key facts:
* Poor safety of the existing highway with a high casualty crash rate along this section.
* Trewilga is currently the only rural section of road between Forbes and Gilgandra that has a speed limit of 100 km/h.
* This upgrade will bring this section up to 110 km/h.

The proposed improvements at Trewilga, about 36km north of Parkes, NSW, will upgrade and realign 6.5 kilometres of the Newell Highway towards Peak Hill.

All Tenderers must comply with the NSW Government Code of Practice for Procurement.

A pre-tender meeting and site inspection will be held at the Peak Hill RSL Meeting Room, Caswell Street, Peak Hill NSW 2869 at 10am on Thursday 5 November 2015. Attendance is mandatory in order to submit a conforming tender. Tenderers purchasing the documents will be advised of the full details of the meeting.
