BP DAPL has been awarded four (4) exploration permits in the Ceduna basin, in the Great Australian Bight (GAB). The “GAB Drilling Project” program is to drill 4 exploration wells, in this remote location, with the blocks being approximately 400 km west of Port Lincoln and 300 km southwest of Ceduna in South Australia. Drilling of the first 2 wells is scheduled to commence in 4th quarter 2016, followed by a technical review before drilling the additional 2 wells.
There is a requirement for 3 cargo vessels to transport goods, supplies or equipment to and from the rig offshore. The supplies include dry cargo (CCU`s and OCTG`s), liquid cargo (fuel, fresh water, drilling fluid) and powders (cement, barite and bentonite). Vessels must be capable of operating in harsh environments offshore in the Great Australian Bight. One of the cargo vessels will require an ROV onboard (existing or to be installed).
The contract term for marine services would be for six (6) months with an additional six (6) x one (1) month options. The procurement process for this new contract will need at least 9 months to complete, with the expected date of contract award at Q2 2016, with operations anticipated to commence in October 2016.
