Balranald Shire Council’s Bidgee Haven Hostel is a successful and fully occupied fourteen room complex situated in the township of Balranald. Approximately 60% of the current residents have dementia needs; however the facility has no separate or secure areas to accommodate the dementia residents without impacting on the other residents.
To meet identified demand and to provide an opportunity to upgrade the level and style of service provided, it is proposed to extend the existing facility to provide a further twelve rooms, eight of which will be dedicated to patients with dementia requirements and the other four being flexible in their use, depending on demand.
