Tender Description
The State has committed to deliver the Forrestfield - Airport Link Railway (Project) via budget funding allocation and approval of the Project definition plan in August 2014. By issuing this Invitation, the PTA now commences the procurement process to identify suitable parties to design and construct the Project Works and provide the Maintenance Services.
The Project will deliver an 8.5 km extension of the existing PTA rail network in Perth, Western Australia. It will connect the Midland line, just past Bayswater Station, to Forrestfield, running underground in twin bored tunnels underneath the Swan River, Tonkin Highway and Perth Airport as depicted in Figure 1 below. It will include three new stations, being: Airport West Station (located underground in Belmont); Consolidated Airport Terminal Station (located underground at Perth Airport to service both domestic and international flights); and Forrestfield Station.
The Project will provide new rail services, allowing a 20-minute rail journey into the Perth CBD from Forrestfield Station, as well as improved bus networks for the eastern suburbs, foothills and surrounding community to the Perth CBD and provide integration with the full Transperth bus and train network.
Airport West Station and Forrestfield Station will have bus-train interchanges and up to 3,000 new car parking bays, in total.
Through the issue of this Invitation, the PTA seeks submissions from suitably qualified entities for the delivery of substantially all of the infrastructure required for a fully functioning twin track commuter railway from Bayswater, on the Midland Line, to Forrestfield, extending PTA’s existing rail network by approximately 8.5 km.
