Install of Firebreaks for Bushfire Mitigation within the Banana Shire

⁠⁠⁠Overview

Banana Shire Council is undertaking a program of bushfire mitigation works across twenty-six (26) nominated Council sites throughout Banana Shire and is seeking suitably qualified and experienced suppliers to undertake the works. This Request for Quotation (RFQ) relates to the first two (2) nominated locations.

Purpose

The works are intended to reduce bushfire risk to residential areas, essential infrastructure and Council facilities through the establishment, reinstatement and maintenance of fire-management lines, emergency access routes and associated vegetation and fuel-reduction treatments.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Establishment, reinstatement and maintenance of fire-management lines
• Establishment, reinstatement and maintenance of emergency access routes
• Associated vegetation and fuel-reduction treatments
• Works at Thalberg Avenue, Biloela (rear of residential properties)
• Works at Biloela Sewage Treatment Plant and ponds
• Further inspection, reinstatement or maintenance of previously treated locations where regrowth, erosion, fire, storm events or other conditions compromise the effectiveness of the treatment

Contractor Requirements

• Suitably qualified and experienced in bushfire mitigation works
• Use of appropriate plant and equipment
• Competent operators
• Adequate supervision
• Availability of supporting firefighting resources

Instructions to Tenderers

The remaining nominated locations will be progressively released through VendorPanel as Council is ready to proceed, providing Suppliers with the opportunity to inspect and quote for each location separately. The Bushfire Mitigation Works Plan Technical Specifications document and associated site information form the supporting technical documentation for this RFQ.
