Overview
The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is seeking suitably qualified economic consultancies to deliver the AIMS Index of Marine Industry 2027, including a strengthened Blue Economy and Blue Carbon assessment.
About
The AIMS Index of Marine Industry is produced on a biennial basis. The 2025 edition updated estimates for 2021–22 and 2022–23 and introduced an initial qualitative discussion of blue economy concepts.
Scope
The 2027 Index should:
- Maintain a robust and backwards-comparable time series of marine industry output, value added and employment
- Include a concise but structured Blue Economy module, with explicit coverage of blue carbon ecosystems and nature-based solutions as emerging economic and environmental assets
- Include a concise section outlining key differences from the 2025 Index in data, methods, and findings
The work will be undertaken with regard to relevant Australian Government and international blue economy, ocean accounting and climate policy frameworks.
Contractor Requirements
Conditions for Participation
- No previous judicial decision relating to employee entitlements or engagement in practices found to be dishonest, unethical or unsafe
- Must comply with their obligations, if any, under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Cth)
Contract Terms and Conditions
- Timeframe for Delivery: Public release of Index, June 2027
- Estimated Value (AUD): From $125,000.00 to $175,000.00
