Overview
This is an Advanced Notice of an Upcoming RFT for Ward Block Lift Upgrade, Dunedin Hospital, that will be released to the market on 5th August 2026. This advance notice is for information purposes only and does not require a response.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Southern is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced lift/elevator contractor to design, supply, install, commission, and hand over the upgrade and modernisation of lifts within the Ward Block Building at Dunedin Hospital.
About
The project addresses aging lift infrastructure originally installed in the 1980s and last modernised in 2003.

- Enhancing operational functionality
- Extending the service life of the lifts servicing the hospital
Scope
The scope includes:
- Design, supply, installation, commissioning, and handover of the upgrade and modernisation of lifts within the Ward Block Building at Dunedin Hospital, delivered under a design-and-build contract
- Detailed design of the lift modernisation works
- Lift modernisation works
- Commissioning of the modernised lifts
- Obtaining regulatory approvals
- Infection prevention and control measures
- All associated works required in a live hospital environment
The procurement excludes the engagement of standalone design consultants, architects, and project management services. Any required specialist consultancy services are to be subcontracted by the successful contractor.
