Springsure Showground (Bauhinia Park) Football Field Refurbishment

⁠⁠⁠Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit quotations for the repair, installation, and establishment of turf at Springsure Showgrounds (Bauhinia Park) Football Field and Cricket Field

The objective of this project is to restore high-quality, durable turf surfaces suitable for community, recreational, and event use, ensuring long-term sustainability under Central Queensland climatic conditions.

Project Area

• The works will be undertaken across two (2) designated areas within the Springsure Showgrounds:

• Primary Area (Main Football Field):

• An area of approximately 48 metres x 60 metres (˜ 2,880 m²)

• Secondary Area (Western Side of Cricket Pitch):

• An area of approximately 50 metres x 30 metres (˜ 1,500 m²)

• Total indicative area: Approximately 4,380 m²

Scope of Works

The successful contractor will be responsible for delivering all labour, materials, plant, and expertise required to complete the following:

Site Inspection & Assessment

• See Document – Springsure Showground map with highlighted area to be repaired

• Assess soil conditions, drainage, and existing turf health

Site Preparation

• Removal of damaged, dead, or unsuitable turf

• Ground levelling and grading to ensure proper drainage

• Soil preparation including aeration, conditioning, and amendment

Turf Supply & Installation

• Supply of appropriate turf species suited to:

1.  Central Queensland climate
2.  High-traffic environments
3.  Drought tolerance and durability

• Installation of turf including:

1.  Laying of turf rolls or slabs
2.  Seam alignment and compaction
3.  Initial watering and establishment procedures

• Creation of Specification Sheet

1.  Type of Turf Installed
2.  Filtered soil screened to 0.25mm and 1.00 microns
3.  Type of Soil
4.  Super/Jumbo turf rolls – no small rolls

Repair Works

• See Document – Springsure Showground map with highlighted area to be repaired

• Targeted patching of damaged areas

• Seamless blending with existing turf

• Restoration of high-wear zones

Irrigation Considerations (if applicable)

• Work around existing irrigation infrastructure

• Recommend improvements if deficiencies are identified

Establishment & Maintenance Guidance

• Provide post-installation care plan including:

1.  Watering schedule
2.  Fertilisation program
3.  Mowing guidelines

• Optional: include pricing for short-term establishment maintenance period

Waste Management

• Removal and disposal of all waste materials

• Compliance with environmental and local regulations
