⁠⁠⁠Provision of specialist greenkeeping and turf management services, including premium lawn maintenance, annual turf renovation and presentation works at Government House Sydney.

Project goals

The objective of this engagement is to provide specialist greenkeeping and turf management services for the grounds of Government House Sydney, ensuring the Estate lawns and landscape presentation are maintained to an exemplary standard appropriate to a significant heritage, ceremonial and public site.

The successful contractor will provide a full-time qualified Greenkeeper and seasonal support staff to undertake premium turf maintenance, irrigation management, lawn renovation, presentation works and associated grounds maintenance activities across the Estate.

A key component of the engagement is the annual renovation of the Eastern Terrace lawns, a high-profile ceremonial and entertaining space, including scalping, scarifying, aeration, top dressing incorporating imported topsoil, turf rectification and associated improvement works.

The services are intended to support:

• High quality presentation outcomes year-round;
• Heritage-sensitive landscape management aligned with the Government House Sydney Conservation Management Plan;
• Sustainable and preventative maintenance practices;
• Operational flexibility to support official functions and public events; and
• Long-term improvement in turf quality, resilience and performance across the Estate.

Scope

The scope of services includes the provision of specialist greenkeeping and turf management services for the grounds of Government House Sydney.

The successful contractor will provide:

• One full-time qualified Greenkeeper (Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent) year-round; and
• One apprentice/labourer during the peak growing season for approximately three months per year.

Services include, but are not limited to:

• Regular mowing and presentation of all turf areas;
• Turf edging, weed removal, leaf and litter collection;
• Irrigation monitoring and watering activities;
• Fertiliser, soil conditioning, and approved chemical applications;
• Pest and disease management;
• Turf repair and rectification works;
• Cleaning of paved and gravel areas associated with mowing activities;
• Maintenance and presentation of gravel pathways;
• General presentation and responsive maintenance works across the Estate.
• Annual renovation program for the Eastern Terrace lawns.

The contractor will provide all labour, supervision, equipment, machinery, consumables and insurances necessary to undertake the services and must operate in accordance with all relevant WHS, environmental and heritage requirements.
