Hamilton Road Upgrade and Landscaping

⁠⁠⁠The Town is seeking a suitability qualified Contractor to deliver the construction of the Hamilton Road upgrade and associated landscaping. The Hamilton Road upgrade includes the construction of two round-abouts and the required road realignment to connect with the new round-abouts.

This upgrade is designed to improve safety and facilitate the seamless movement of vehicles and reduce traffic congestion during peak times. These round-abouts and road upgrade will form park of the first stage in the South Hedland Integrated Sports Hub development.

It needs to be noted that a high number of services are located within the roading corridor of Hamilton Road, and care will be required in working around these services.

The works will include the upgrading of the landscaping within the Hamilton Road corridor and the installation of irrigation infrastructure as designed. The landscaping is included to establish a unified design and cohesive aesthetics throughout the project area.

The existing streetlights for this section of Hamilton Road will also be relocated as part of this project. This will only include enabling works for the relocation of streetlights. It needs to be noted that the relocation of the streetlights will be done by the utility service provider under a separate contract.

All works needs to be completed, while Hamilton Road and all surrounding facilities, are open and accessible at all times. As the major through fare to the South Hedland Hospital, Fire services, Police services and CBD, the methodology and Traffic management plan will need to account for 24/7 access, while construction is underway.

A various number of utility services is located within the Hamilton Road corridor. These include the main water supply for the whole of South Hedland, the Main Sewer line servicing the whole of South Hedland as well as various telecom service lines. It is also possible that not all services will be indicated on a “Dial before you dig”.

It needs to be noted that there is also a possibility of redundant services still being present underground in the road corridor. The location and marking of all underground services will be important to ensure that no delays are encountered due to service strikes.
