The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (the Department) is focused on driving a strong and resilient economy that benefits all Victorians – by creating more opportunities for people through jobs and skills; supporting businesses and industries to grow and prosper; and building vibrant communities and regions.
Scope:
The Digital Jobs - AI Career Conversion program (AICC) will deliver targeted training to upskill tech and other white-collar workers to transition into AI roles and become specialists in the technology.
The program will upskill workers from occupations and industries experiencing AI disruption, embedding AI capability in small and medium businesses in key industries, boosting innovation and competitiveness.
By leveraging the proven Digital Jobs program model, it will rapidly target the sectors most likely to be impacted by AI.
The Talent Initiatives team is seeking to expand the existing Digital Jobs Training Provider Panel (the Panel) to add new AI course offerings to the current suite of training courses.
The program is seeking up to 325 training places to June 2027, with 3 x 1 year contract extension options to extend training delivery through to June 2030. These training place numbers are estimates to support the market engagement.
A range of industry endorsed micro credential training courses will be offered through the AICC program. Training will be delivered by a mix of university, TAFE and private training providers with a focus on courses suitable for upskilling working professionals.
The successful suppliers will be responsible for the design of their course content as well as participant enrolment, course delivery which may be face-to-face and/or on-line with a trainer/assessor and reporting on course outcomes. Suppliers must have the ability to provide advanced training in high demand AI skills.
The new courses will typically be delivered as either intensive 1-day, in person workshops, or 4 to 6-week, part-time, online courses (with in-person elements if required) targeting the following occupations:
- Software development
- Product management
- UX design
- Web development
- Data and analytics
- IT systems and solutions
- Digital marketing, media and communications
- Business management operations – legal, finance, HR
The program is also interested in sourcing training for new AI occupations such as:
• AI integrators
• Prompt engineers
• Conversational designers
• Agent management
• Responsible AI.
The courses should have the capability to upskill early career, mid-career and/or return to work cohorts with different courses tailored as required to suit the learning needs of tech and non-tech workers and senior business leaders.
Pricing for the new courses is expected to align with the arrangements currently in place with the existing Panel. The maximum expected price for the 4–6-week part-time, online courses is up to $2,000 (ex GST) per participant and the maximum price to deliver a 1-day workshop is up to $10,000 (ex GST). The department may consider higher pricing where additional services are being provided, subject to negotiation.
