Firsthealth is federally funded to deliver the Primary Heath Network program across the Murrumbidgee region. Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is one of 31 local and independent PHNs established nationally to support the primary healthcare sector and improve health outcomes, particularly for people at risk of poorer health outcomes. We deliver the PHN program across approximately 126,000 square kilometers to more than 250,000 people living in our 508 communities.

ABOUT THIS REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) has been commissioning mental health services since 2015. With approximately 5,770 people living with severe and/or complex mental illness across the Murrumbidgee region, there is a need for targeted approaches to support this population group.

In the context of primary care, multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are a well-recognised approach to deliver comprehensive, holistic, and person-centre healthcare. An MDT approach acknowledges how wider determinants of health impact a persons health and wellbeing.

MPHN has previously commissioned a multidisciplinary mental health model in general practice to address the needs of people with severe and/or complex mental health needs in regional communities. The model was evaluated in February 2024, and the findings informed refinements to the service which were then piloted in five regional communities.

MPHN is now looking to expand the pilot as a region-wide program delivering multidisciplinary mental health services to people with severe and/or complex mental health needs within general practice. The service is called: Better. Together. Your mental health care team in general practice.

OPPORTUNITY ON OFFER

MPHN is seeking proposals from suitable Lead Contractor(s) to establish and deliver the Better. Together. Program, via a hub and spoke model across the region. Better. Together. will provide a range of clinical and non-clinical mental health supports including therapeutic engagement, care coordination and navigation, team care support, and social prescribing. The service must be clinically appropriate to support people in primary care, with severe and/or complex mental health needs.

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network is not bound to accept the lowest priced Proposal or all or any part of a Proposal and reserves the right to conduct the Request for Proposal process and select the successful respondent(s) as it sees fit.
