Henry Lawson Pedestrian Bridge Replacement

⁠⁠⁠Background

The purpose of the project is to remove the existing pedestrian bridge and, design and construct a new pedestrian bridge in the same location. The Contractor will be required to undertake the following activities;

• Prepare and certify a design for the new pedestrian bridge in accordance with AS5100. It is intended that the existing concrete abutments can be reutilised within the design.

• Provide a design and constructability input into the Development Application to be submitted by Townsville City Council for State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) approval.

• Demolish the existing pedestrian bridge and remove from Magnetic Island.

• Construct a new pedestrian bridge (in accordance with the approved Development Application).

• Reinstatement of the area disturbed by the works including footpaths, fencing, road surfacing and temporary relocation of services (not limited to overhead power)).

The existing services attached to the bridge are now redundant and disconnected (i.e. watermain, sewer main and Telstra). These services have been relocated off the bridge (refer to the as-constructed drawings). The Contractor is to ensure the new design for the bridge does not affect the newly relocated services
