Clarence Valley Levee Remediation

⁠⁠⁠Project goals

The severe weather and flood events in February and June 2022 caused a significant amount of damage to flood mitigation infrastructure in Clarence Valley. These assets play a significant role in protecting vulnerable communities, essential services and critical infrastructure. All these attributes are essential elements in the creation and maintenance of resilient communities. The Flood Levee Repair Program (FLRP) has provided funding to support recovery for eligible severe weather and flood affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the medium to long term by providing funding for repairs, restoration and betterment of directly damaged urban flood levee infrastructure. The project objectives within the Clarence Valley Council (CVC) LGA will align with the greater Program objectives with emphasis on physical remediation and betterment of urban levees to maintain a level of resilience against future flood disasters.

Scope

The works under the Contract shall include the design and construction, including supply of all materials, labour, plant and equipment to:

1. Reconstruction of approximately 500m of rockwall along the Maclean Levee at River St, Maclean.
2. Design and construction of a new operable flood gate at the existing essex drain at River St, Maclean, including removal of the existing flood gate and remediation of the headwall and drain outlet, undertake a condition assessment and repair of the culvert.
3. Redesign and installation of an operable flood levee gate at McDonald Ln, Maclean including sundry construction and fitout works.
4. Construction of 0.29ha of mangrove offset site on Kings Creek Rd, Lawrence.
5. Design and construction of approximately 150m of rockwall along the Grafton Levee at Blackwood Cl, Grafton.
