Youth Excellence Sponsorship Program

Council proudly supports young people striving for excellence through the Youth Excellence Sponsorship Program (YES!).

With an annual budget of $32,000, this program helps local youth participate in high-level or elite competitions across arts, science, sport, technology, and academics.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be under 18 years of age at the time of the competition.
• Be a resident of Lake Macquarie.
• Be participating in a recognised high-level/elite competition (state, national, or international).
• Provide evidence of achievement (e.g. awards, rankings, invitations).
• Demonstrate anticipated success or performance at the event.

What’s Not Eligible?

Funding is not available for:

• Schools applying on behalf of students and school-based competitions.
• Professional athletes or teams with existing sponsorship.
• Council staff or their relatives.
• Recreational or non-competitive events.
• Repeat applicants within the same financial year.
• Events that have already occurred.
