Construction of Goolgatup Stage 2 – Welcome Place

⁠⁠⁠The City of Melville is undertaking an extensive landscape and interpretation design project to revitalise a rare site on the foreshore in the heart of the city, with the aim of creating a beautiful space and improved ecology that supports diverse recreation, cultural engagement, and community enjoyment. This is a culturally significant site for Whadjuk and Noongar people.

The City of Melville (City) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to undertake the construction of Stage 2 Welcome Place and Surrounds at Goolugatup Heathcote Lowerlands, located at 66 Duncraig Road, Applecross.

Stage 1 Yarning Circle and Surrounds has already been undertaken and the hardscape has just been completed. The City of Melville is also constructing the carpark prior to this Tender being awarded. Please exclude everything within the extents of the carpark and asphalt kerb to kerb. Also exclude Stage 3 Staircase and its upper and lower landings.

This Request for Tender is for Stage 2 Welcome Place & Surrounds.

The Project scope for Stage 2 includes:

• A Metal Shade Structure which includes a perforated patterned canopy
• More than 1000m2 of concrete paths,
• Decorative rammed earth seating,
• Electrical and lighting provision,
• Park furniture,
• Coordination of the installation of a modular toilet block procured by the City,
• Irrigation for Stage 1 and Stage 2,
• Soft landscaping for Stage 1 and Stage 2, and
• Stencil and sandblasting patterns into some parts of the concrete paths, using design files provided by the City.

The Works are to include all operations, plant, labour, materials, survey, supervision, temporary water, temporary power, traffic management and everything else required to complete the whole of the Works as described in the provided Specifications, shown on the Drawings, or additional works if required. There is a Heritage Conservation management requirement to provide Aboriginal monitoring during site excavation, and this has been included as a provisional sum in the price schedule.
