RFT - UTS Virtual Laboratory Solution
Tender ID: 605659
Tender Details
Tender Description
UTS seeks a Virtual Laboratory (Virtual Lab) Solution to address UTS's need for a scalable and cost-efficient cloud computing solution for course delivery in virtual classroom scenarios. The project seeks to enable students to access software and virtual hardware resources remotely using either UTS-provided, or BYOD devices, to supplement or replace physical labs as necessary, provide students with new computer lab experiences and to establish foundational virtual lab platforms and operational processes that can adapt to evolving needs.
UTS defines a "Virtual Lab" as a grouping of cloud-hosted virtual machines with the same operating system, software and access configuration which is to be provided to students in a subject or group of subjects, akin to the environment available in a physical computer lab.
Initially, Virtual Lab solutions were implemented to meet the acute needs of some areas within the Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT), where the compute requirements were beyond what was available in physical labs. A number of primary platforms were deployed for trialling and development purposes, however UTS now seeks one unified platform.
