Tender Details
Tender Description
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced catering contractor to provide a two-course meal in a community dining setting for participants of the Community Meals Program. Meals are to be prepared and delivered in accordance with all relevant food safety standards and designed to meet the nutritional needs of older people, while also accommodating cultural preferences and dietary requirements.
Each Community Meal venue is supported by a volunteer community member and, where required a Council staff representative. These individuals act as the primary points of contact for the catering contractor and are responsible for coordinating attendee numbers, contributing to menu development, and supporting ongoing quality monitoring and feedback. The successful contractor will be expected to work collaboratively with these representatives to ensure a consistent, and responsive service.
Beyond the provision of meals, the Community Meals Program plays a vital role in supporting wellbeing and social inclusion. Sharing a meal together enhances participants' sense of connection, fosters friendships, and helps build stronger, more resilient communities. Food is a key enabler of participation, helping remove barriers, encourage regular attendance, and create welcoming and inclusive environments where trust can develop.
The program also provides opportunities for participants to experience and learn about different cultures, strengthening social bonds and supporting community cohesion. These shared dining experiences can act as a gateway to broader wellbeing initiatives, connecting participants with additional support services, programs and community events.
Through the Community Meals Program, participants benefit from:
- Increased opportunities for social connection and community engagement
- Improved access to wellbeing programs and broader community networks
- Nutritious, safe, fair, and culturally appropriate meals
- Support to maintain safe, independent living and overall quality of life.
The appointed catering contractor will be expected to align with these objectives and contribute positively to the delivery of a program that supports dignity, inclusion, and wellbeing for older members of the community.
