Service Design Lead

The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) is seeking an experienced Service Design Lead.

The Service Design Lead sets the strategic direction for service design and ensures high-quality design outcomes that meet organisational goals and user needs. This is a leadership role, operating within an enabling services model with a team of architecture and design professionals who support multiple delivery teams under the scaled agile framework (SAFe).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead service design as a practice, driving the maturity of the capability within the Digital Services Branch.
  • Provide oversight through supporting the Design Reference Group, ensuring design outputs meet quality standards and comply with the Australian Government Digital Service Standard (v2.0) and the Service Design and Delivery Process.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional teams to refine scope and backlogs and ensure alignment with service design artefacts.
  • Lead workshops and co-creation sessions to ideate and validate solutions, fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Create, refine and maintain artefacts such as service blueprints, backbones, journey maps, and personas in collaboration with business, architecture, product, and delivery teams.
  • Continuously assess and refine design products to ensure they deliver value and effectively enable teams to translate designs into working code.
  • Promote innovation and best practice by driving enhancements to design processes and outputs, ensuring practice is aligned to organisational goals.

Qualifications and Experience

The Service Design Lead will have several years of experience working in:

  • A lead service design role developing service design artefacts and working collaboratively with others
  • A scaled agile framework (SAFe)

The Service Design Lead will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary and/or professional certifications in service design
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Miro, Figma, Useberry and Hotjar
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
