Tender Description
D&C Replacement of Williamson Creek (West) Pedestrian Footbridge & Approaches
Livingstone Shire Council invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit a tender for the design and construction of a modular pedestrian bridge and associated footpath approaches to replace the existing timber bridges on Scenic Highway, approximately 40 meters north of Clayton Road.
The project will enhance pedestrian safety and connectivity along Scenic Highway by delivering a modern modular bridge and footpath approaches that integrate with future upgrades. Works will be delivered under an amended AS4300-1995 Design and Construct contract across three stages: design and pre-construction, construction, and post-construction.
Stage 1 – Design & Pre-Construction
Includes submission of detailed design documentation, constructability review, statutory approvals, and site investigations (geotechnical, survey, PUP). The design must incorporate bridge and footpath tie-ins, temporary works planning, and traffic management considerations.
Stage 2 – Construction
Covers demolition of the existing timber bridge, site establishment, environmental controls, and construction of the new modular pedestrian bridge and footpath approaches. Works include abutments, piers, deck units, handrails, scour protection, surfacing, signage, landscaping, and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.
Stage 3 – Post-Construction
Includes provision of as-constructed documentation, warranties, and completion of a Level 2 bridge inspection in accordance with TMR standards, with rectification of any identified defects prior to opening.
This is a strategic opportunity to enhance pedestrian infrastructure along one of Livingstone Shire’s key coastal corridors, supporting community connectivity and future active transport initiatives.
