Tender Description
The Traceability Grants Program (TGP) is a part of the Modernising Agricultural Trade – Protecting Australia’s Clean, Green Brand initiative. The grant round will support collaborative traceability projects to assist implementation activities under the National Agricultural Traceability Strategy 2023 to 2033.
Building on the outcomes of earlier rounds, the purpose of the grant round is to better align processes and technologies in capturing and using data to support regulators and farmers, help support agricultural industries to implement interoperable traceability systems, and support the strengthening of agricultural traceability awareness through communication and education campaigns.
The Traceability Grants Program - Round 4 will award grants totalling $4 million GST excl. ($2 million in 2025-26 and $2 million in 2026-27) for grant activities expected to be completed by 30 June 2028.
The program opened for applications on 13 January 2026, and applications must be received by 11:00 pm AEDT on 18 February 2026.
Eligibility:
Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
To be eligible you must:
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- be registered for the purposes of GST
- have an account with an Australian financial institution in your organisation’s name
and be one of the following entity types or part of a joint (consortia) application with a lead organisation that is:
- a company incorporated in Australia
- a company incorporated by guarantee
- an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust
- an incorporated association
- a partnership
- Corporate Commonwealth Entity
- Non-Corporate Commonwealth Entity
- Non-Corporate Commonwealth Statutory Authority
- Corporate State or Territory Entity
- Non-corporate State or Territory Entity
- Non-corporate State or Territory Statutory Authority
- Local Government Entity
- a not-for-profit organisation
- a publicly funded research organisation
- an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006
Who is not eligible to apply for a grant?
You are not eligible to apply if you are:
- an organisation, or your project partner is an organisation, included on the National Redress Scheme’s website on the list of ‘Institutions that have not joined or signified their intent to join the Scheme’(www.nationalredress.gov.au)
- an individual
- unincorporated association
- overseas resident/organisation
- any organisation not included in section 4.1 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.

How to Apply
Complete the Application Form and email it, along with the required attachments to traceability.project@aff.gov.au by 11:00 pm AEDT on 18 February 2026 to be eligible for consideration.
Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Advisory Panel (SAP), who will rate and rank applications, and will make recommendations on whether to award grants based on how they score against defined assessment criteria.
The decision to award grants will be made by the delegate with line area responsibility for this grant program, based on the recommendations of the SAP.
Successful applicants will be asked to execute a Grant Agreement to receive funding, acquit grant expenditure, and report on the progress of their project.

Grant applications must be submitted between the published open and closing times for the grant opportunity. Requests to submit applications after the closing time will only be considered if the applicant can demonstrate they have experienced exceptional circumstances that prevented submission.
