CREATING BALLARAT’S HOTTEST NEW SINGLES

We are excited to announce the return of Be Hear Now, the City of Ballarat's acclaimed contemporary music program. Following the huge success of the 2025 edition, we are thrilled to offer this transformative initiative once again in 2026.

For five years, Be Hear Now has been dedicated to developing and supporting musicians in our community. Our program celebrates the skills and talents of Ballarat's artists, providing them with the tools they need to refine their craft and build successful careers. The program is designed to identify local talent and offer tailored mentorship, training, resources, and a collaborative team to amplify new voices.

This program is proudly supported by the VMDO, Victoria's music industry research, business and innovation hub

What to expect in 2026

Following our EOI call-out (link can be found above & below), five local artists/bands will be selected to participate in a customized program that prepares them to record, mix, master, and release their original singles.

Participants will receive:

•  5 dedicated sessions with an industry-matched mentor
•  Masterclass training (in partnership with VMDO)
•  Professional recording, mixing, and mastering sessions
•  Photography session with a professional photographer
•  Graphic design for single artwork and promotional materials
•  Release strategy development
•  Marketing and promotion funding
•  Distribution support for getting music on popular platforms
•  Free access to ‘Essentials’ Music Victoria membership
•  Access to desk space at Music Victoria office in Collingwood
•  Professional development in key areas including Music Business, Artist Brand Development, Marketing and Social Media, Live Performance, Recording and Production, Tour Planning, Digital Distribution, and Playlist Pitching.

Applications to be part of Be Hear Now 26 are now open and will close on Friday 30 January 2026.

To be considered for the Be Hear Now program, you must live, work or study within the City of Ballarat.

Program activity will take place from approximately March through to September 2026
