Multibeam Echo Sounder (MBES) for NSW Maritime Survey

⁠⁠⁠Supply of multi beam echo sounder, supporting sensors and potentially a portable unit that can be deployed on smaller vessels is required

Project goals

To conduct land and hydrographic surveys to aid safe navigation on NSW coastal and inland waterways, enable investigation of maritime incidents, and inform development of Maritime infrastructure, as well as in support of special aquatic events.

Scope

SENSOR 1

A multibeam echosounder (MBES) that meets or exceeds the performance specifications listed below:

• Minimum frequency not more than 360kHz and maximum frequency not less than 400kHz,
• Nominal across-track receiver beam width not more than 0.5 degrees, and nominal along-track beam width not more than 1 degree
• Typical depths -minimum not more than 1 metre and maximum not less than 150 metres,
• Maximum number of soundings per ping not less than 1000.
• The overall weight of the sensor’s head assembly should be no more than approximately 20kg to ensure compatibility with existing deployment configurations

SENSOR 2A portable secondary MBES or similar bathymetric swath mapping system designed for regional deployment from the team’s Sydney base.
