Wellington Shire Council is located in the Gippsland region of the state of Victoria, Australia and is approximately two hours east of Melbourne by road or rail.
It is Victoria's third largest municipality, covering an area of 10,924 square kilometres and is home to 45,639 residents (2021 census) spread across more than 30 different communities.
Wellington Shire Council provides library services, known as Wellington Libraries, through branches in several communities.
Introduction
Wellington Libraries are implementing service wide Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to improve productivity, efficiency, safety and customer service.
The scope of this project includes:
- Provision of resources, including human resources, to convert existing Wellington Libraries collection to RFID tags.
- Supply of RFID tags to enable tagging of new collection items as they are processed by library staff
- Upgrade of staff workstations to be RFID compatible
- Supply and installation of equipment which checks in library items as they are returned
- Supply and installation of self-checkout units for use by library patrons
- Supply and installation of people counting solutions
- Training of staff in use of all new equipment installed as part of the project
- Other services and equipment as needed by quote
- Returns drop box design, supply and install for afterhours returns
