Lower Mitta Mitta Geomorphic Investigation

This project involves a geomorphic investigation of the Lower Mitta Mitta River, extending from Lake Banimboola to Hume Dam. The study area will be divided into six reaches, consistent with the 2010 Mitta Mitta River Waterway Action Plan and the 2002 Geomorphic Study undertaken by Charles Sturt University.

Reach 1 – Lake Banimboola to Callaghan Creek

Reach 2 – Callaghan Creek to Snowy Creek

Reach 3 – Snowy Creek to Scrubby Creek

Reach 4 – Scrubby Creek to Peters Bridge

Reach 5 – Peters Bridge to Bullhead Creek

Reach 6 – Bullhead Creek to Lake Hume High Water Mark

The purpose is to identify and prioritise reach-scale interventions that will improve river stability, reduce long-term maintenance costs, and protect the river’s environmental, social, and economic values.
