Developing Australian Industry Capability
At Boeing Defence Australia, we are proud of our long-term relationships with our Australian customers and industry partners. We are always seeking to strengthen and expand these important relationships. We recognise that a strong and capable supply chain is critical to BDA's ability to deliver agile and innovative solutions to our customers.
BDA are actively pursuing this through:
- Proactively seeking diverse Australian suppliers that can provide competitive, high-quality goods and services.
- Facilitating the development of SME capabilities to become defence ready by assisting in eliminating barriers to supplying Defence and strengthening SME knowledge of contracting requirements.
- Building, reviewing and approving company-wide supplier diversity strategies in consultation with SMEs and industry bodies.
Our domestic supply chain is managed by a dedicated team focused on engaging with Australian suppliers, maximising Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and promoting domestic enterprises to Boeing's global supply chain.
Supplier Diversity
Our focus on Australian Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is part of 'business-as-usual' for Boeing, and we have made significant headway in developing and supporting SME's and diversity suppliers.
As the first Defence prime contractor to become a corporate member of Supply Nation in 2012, Boeing remains invested in a long-term relationship and is committed to Indigenous participation and continues to set stretch targets within our supply chain.
In Australia, we are particularly honoured to have the opportunity to develop strong relationships, demonstrate respect and create opportunities for the original inhabitants and Traditional Owners of this continent. The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program provides our business with a robust framework to achieve meaningful progress towards these goals.
To view the BDA RAP please visit https://www.boeing.com.au/resources/en-au/pdf/RAP-Action-Plan-2022.pdf
It is important to Boeing to drive an inclusive workplace and supply chain. In 2020, Boeing expanded its lens on diversity in our supply chain to include:
- Veteran Community Business Chamber (VCBC)
- Women-owned businesses (WEConnect certified)
- Disability-owned business enterprise (BuyAbility certified)
