Council has had several breaks in the existing sewer rising main (SRM) from SPS G3 to the Gympie STP which has resulted in the isolation of approximately 2km of SRM. A Pipeline Inspection and Condition Assessment was undertaken in June 2024 which indicated several priority anomalies along the existing SRM. In addition, a CCTV survey was undertaken during the last break which further clarified the poor condition of the pipe along Barter St.
The scope of this RFT will be to employ the services of a suitably qualified team of engineers and contractors to carry out a Design and Construct Contract to replace the pipe along Barter St which is no longer fit for purpose. In addition, local air valves will also be replaced to ensure that the issue of the build-up of gases is reduced. This works will improve the operation of the SRM and allow it to be reutilised as an important part of the Gympie sewer reticulation system.
